1. Connect the watch app

Chapter batches require version 0.1.1 or later of both HarmonyOS companion apps.

Open the HarmonyOS companion edition of WristTale on your Garmin watch and choose “Pair phone” to display a four-digit code. Sign in with Alipay or WeChat on your phone, open Watch apps, and enter the code. Request a new code if it expires. Each connection represents an app on a watch and records your authorization.

2. Import TXT

Select a TXT up to 10 MiB from the library or the Import TXT desktop service card. Check the encoding, title and chapter preview, then save it to your phone library. The source file is kept. You can edit book and chapter titles and text.

3. Send chapter batches

Choose Send to watch from a book's menu, select receiving apps, and tap Send next batch. Each batch contains whole chapters. Auto-send in the import preview sends the first batch; you can turn it off in the preview or Preferences.

Tap “Sync now” on the watch to collect the batch. Then refresh sync status on your phone, check saved chapters, and send the next batch. Interrupted batches resume from the parts already saved. Resend only the unfinished batch when it expires. Completed tasks leave the pending view; your phone library keeps the book.

Larger books are sent in chapter batches, with up to 1 MiB of text per batch. Phone version 0.1.2 or later splits oversized chapters into sendable sections on a new import or an explicit edit/save, preserving the text. Both devices need network access and can use different Wi-Fi networks. Uploads run while the phone app is in the foreground; wait for the watch to confirm storage after upload.

4. Read and track progress

Once the watch confirms storage, the phone updates that receiving app's book progress. Each app has its own progress. Saved chapters are available offline; later batches extend the same book. To resend, reset sync progress for the selected apps on the send page. Books are kept. An active batch must finish or expire before its progress can be reset.

5. Temporary content and reconnection

Relay content is available for at most 24 hours and may be removed after a 30-minute grace period once every recipient confirms storage. Local books, saved watch chapters and lasting bindings are kept. After clearing local data or changing phones, sign in with the same account to find your connections, or disconnect an app and pair again. No manual recovery code is needed. Keep your source files separately.

6. Settings and membership

Preferences controls language, appearance, Garmin and auto-send; Reading settings controls phone reading. Chinese and English are available. HarmonyOS watch support is not available yet.

Account & membership offers Alipay or WeChat sign-in, refresh and restore, membership purchases and activation-code redemption when the service makes them available. HarmonyOS membership and codes are separate from other products; consult in-app products for prices. Free access ends on 31 October 2026 at 23:59:59 China Standard Time. Payment is optional during the free offer. Duration plans add time after the latest of the current time, the offer end or your existing valid membership expiry; lifetime membership takes effect immediately. Expiry does not start automatic charging.
