Garmin is aligning its cycling computer lineup with a unified beta release. Software Version 30.17 Beta is now available for the latest and previous generation Edge devices.
Supported Devices
- Edge 1050 / 1040 (Solar & Standard)
- Edge 850 / 840 (Solar & Standard)
- Edge 550 / 540 (Solar & Standard)
- Edge MTB specific units
Key Changes in 30.17
This update unifies the feature set across generations where hardware allows, bringing the latest refinements to a broad user base.
Navigation Enhancements
Improved rerouting calculation speeds when deviating from a course. The update addresses instances where the "U-Turn" prompt would persist longer than necessary.
ClimbPro Updates
Refinements to ClimbPro detection on smaller hills, reducing false positives for minor elevation changes that don't qualify as categorized climbs.
System Stability
General stability improvements to prevent device freezes during long rides with multiple active sensors (Radar, Power, HR).
How to Install
Ensure your Edge device is connected to Wi-Fi.
- Go to Menu > System > About > Check for Updates.
- The device will download the update and prompt for installation.
Note: This is a Public Beta. If you rely on your device for critical racing or navigation this weekend, you may want to wait for the stable release.
